About Braiders United

Braiders United is a free world map of braiders. It helps you find a braider near you in two clicks and see her work before you get in touch. It was started by braider Olga Olikova and is run by her company, Dream braids s.r.o.

Why a map of braiders

Google Maps is a great tool for getting somewhere. It is not a good tool for finding a braider. Many braiders work from home or from a rented chair, don't have a business listing and show their work only on Instagram, TikTok or Facebook. If you search for "braids near me", you mostly find hair salons, not the people who actually braid.

Olga wanted a map where you open the page, see the braiders in your area and tap through to their work. No sign-up, no booking system and no fees for anyone.

How listings are checked

Every braider on the map asked to be listed, either through our application form or on our Russian-language map. A new card appears as soon as the braider applies, marked "Review pending". Within 30 days, Olga Olikova looks at the braider's public profile and work samples, and if the profile does not meet our listing criteria, the card comes off the map. Once she has looked, the card shows the date.

A card is not a rating, an endorsement or a promise about quality. You choose your braider and arrange everything with her directly. The listing rules say exactly what we check and what we don't, and the page on safe braiding lists what to ask before your appointment.

Who is behind it

Olga Olikova is a braider based in Bratislava, Slovakia. She won the OneShot Hair Awards in the Intricate Braids and Twists category in 2023 and again in 2025, and she is the author of two books, one on braiding and one on social media. You can read more about her at olgaolikova.com.

Braiders United started as a Russian-language map, which still runs at ru.braidersunited.com. In October 2026 it became an international map in English and Slovak.

Questions

How do I find a braider near me?

Open the map and tap "Braiders near me", or choose your country and city. Each card links to the braider's social media profile, where you can see her work and contact her.

Does it cost anything?

No. The map is free for clients and for braiders.

Is every braider on the map checked?

Not right away. A new card appears as soon as the braider applies, marked "Review pending". Within 30 days, Olga looks at the braider's public profile and work samples, and the card then shows the date she looked. That is a look at the braider's public work on that date. It is not a document we issued and not a promise about any appointment.

I'm a braider. How do I get on the map?

Fill in the application form. It takes a few minutes. You can change or delete your card at any time.
